Last week, I was browsing social media and I read a post that said “it’s Eren who kills his mother”. So, I did some research to know if this is true. And you won’t believe what I have found.
Did Eren Kill His Mother?
In chapter 139, Eren Yeager revealed that he manipulated “the smiling titan” or Carla Fritz to walk toward his mother. And therefore, he caused his death.
And if you think a little bit, you will know that this is true.
In Season 4 Part 1, Episode 3, we see that the smiling Titan ignored Bertholdt who was in his human form and walked forward leaving a confused and terrified Bertholdt.
Eren ignored Bertholdt because he would play a big role in the future, which we all discover later.
How Did Eren Kill His Mother?
Eren manipulated the smiling titan. He guided Dinah to his mother with birds. Since Eren can control birds and see through their eyes (and this has been confirmed many times in the manga).
And this explains how she got there because Dinah can’t walk to Eren’s house in Paradise.
Why Did Eren Kill His Mother?
Eren did kill his mother for Eren of the past to create hatred against Titans and that will give him greater motivation to join the Scouts. Since if Carla was alive, he probably wouldn’t have joined the Scouts.
Eren planned everything from the future
Eren has three titans. We are just interested in two of them: the Attack Titan, and the Founding Titan. With the Attack titan, Eren can see the future since he can see memories of the future attack titans. And with the founding titan, he can directly influence things in the past, although only to preserve history the way it's already played out.
But, if you merge the two abilities, he will be able to change the future in the ways he wants. And this is indeed what he did in the manga; he influenced the past to get the founder titan and the attack titan, to make sure he will join the Scouts, and to achieve his goal.
Conclusion
Eventually, Eren has become a major player in the Attack on Titan storyline. He was able to take charge of the Founding Titan, and he used her abilities to manipulate events throughout the series. At times, he sacrificed his friends' lives to save humanity. His actions also resulted in the deaths of his mother and father.
